FREE Training For Bystander Intervention
January 19, 2023
Dear families,Athlete safety has been in the news and this is important to all of us who care about minor sport. We appreciate that viaSport is offering free training for bystander intervention in sport - hope you can join us!Free online sessionHarassment Bystander TrainingWhen January 19, 2023 12:00Open to coaches, managers, families and playersDetails:We all have a responsibility to do something when we see harassment happening, but too often we freeze.Bystander intervention training gives us tools to intervene without compromising our own safety. When we intervene, we don't just reduce trauma for the person being maltreated: we also start to chip away at the culture that allows maltreatment to be so prevalent. This free training is for everyone: youth participants, coaches, parents, and anyone who wants to get better at speaking up when things aren't right. Safer sport begins with you!The link to register is:,Thank you,NWMLA Executive -
Salmonbellie Christmas Toy Drive
December 11, 2022
Hello Salmonbellie Families,
Over the years our lacrosse community has come together to help support families in need during the Christmas Holidays. This year once again I am asking our families to join with the British Columbia Sheriff Service to help support their annual Christmas Toy Drive.
As you know times are challenging for families and many kids will spend Christmas without toys or presents. The British Columbia Sheriff Service has supported the Vancouver Christmas Bureau year after year by collecting toys which help families and children in need across the Lower Mainland.
On December 11th my family will be collecting toys (new unwrapped toys in their original packaging) at the Queens Park Arena between 11:00- 2:00.
If your family would like to donate online you can do so by visiting: https://www.lmcb.ca/new-
donate-funds . For information on the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, visit www.lmcb.caHave a fantastic Christmas and thanks in advance for your support.

Evaluations
February 04, 2022
EVALUATIONS:
This box season we will again utilize the Scotia Barn in Burnaby to hold evaluations for Novice to Midget mixed divisions. For families that have not been involved in the evaluation process before the timeline of completing evaluations and balancing teams this year is February 16 to April 1. The obstacle we face in our community, and the reason we rent space at the Scotia Barn, is that indoor floor time in New Westminster is not available until the last week of March. We have no control of the dates and times available at the Scotia Barn.
Next week, families who selected to participate in evaluations will receive a notification with dates and instructions for the Scotia Barn evaluations. If you did not check the tryout/evaluation box during the registration process, and your athlete would like to participate in the process, please contact Lynda Callard registrar@
